A Ribbon Skirt it will represent something different to each person.
It may represent womanhood, the power in sacredness as women, and a connection to mother earth. For some it may represent resilience, honoring the Missing and Murdered, and the journey of reclaiming indigenous identity, and wearing that identity proudly. For others, they may be Sacred and used for ceremony and sweat only.
Each community around turtle island hold their own interpretation and expressions toward the ribbon skirt. What our grandmothers wore years ago does not look exactly like the ribbon skirts you see today, while they do hold elements of the modern version.
Our Metis grandmothers did not hold the same ceremonial or Indigenous cultural symbolism surrounding the Ribbon Skirt. They represented two different cultures for the women who wore them. This was lost on the Metis community as many chose to conceal their First Nation heritage out of fear.
The Ribbon Skirt is the most wide-spread piece of regalia shared between nations. They do not belong to one specific group or area. We cannot claim them as our own. They are shared.

My goal is to help others, such as myself, continue to reconnect to their culture, to show the power of womanhood, and embrace traditional arts. To be strong and proud role models for our youth. I do not know it all, and I am always open to learning.

I choose to support and purchase mostly from fellow Indigenous businesses when possible, this is important to me.
My handmade skirts typically feature high-quality materials such as cotton, satin, or other durable fabrics, combined with vibrant double sided ribbons to create stunning and durable designs. I use an elastic waistband to ensure a good fit.

To start a custom order please purchase your deposit, deposits are refundable if fabric has not been purchased. This will 'hold' your spot and then you will receive an email from me to start going over options. Please contact me with any questions your may have prior to starting a custom order.
